While we know that any beer you choose will pair nicely with our brew snacks, here are our recommendations for pairing craft beer with PW Pizza.

IPA
The strong, bitter hops of an IPA, like Modern Brewery’s Relentless, pairs nicely with The Blues pizza, a pizza topped with chimichurri, prime rib, applewood-smoked bacon, red onion and blue cheese.

If you’re looking to grab a drink and a dessert, Carrot Cake also goes nicely with an IPA.

Stout
Left Hand Brewery’s Milk Stout perfectly compliments PW’s Chocolate Cake for dessert.

Belgian Tripel or Golden Ale
This will pair nicely with an order of roasted, dry-rubbed BBQ chicken wings.

Hefewiesen or Wheat Beer
A nice hefeweizen, like Griesdieck Brothers Bavarian Wheat, will look nicely paired with our Caprese Chicken pizza.

Brown Ale
The smooth and deep flavors of an American Brown Ale, like St. Louis’ own Civil Life Brown Ale will definitely compliment the BBQ flavors of our Pulled Piggy Pizza.

It’s not hard to pair good pizza with great beer! Whatever food you’re pairing with craft beer, whether it’s pizza or pretzels, you’re enjoying a brew snack! So why not come down to 21st Street Brewers’ Bar for great brew snacks and great craft beer in St. Louis!

3 Pumpkin Craft Beers Perfect for October

craft beer, microbrew, craft beer stl, draft beer, craft beer list

Holy pumpkin, Batman! It’s that time of year again, when the great pumpkin takes over our food, coffee…and our beer! In addition to our extensive craft beer list, we’ve included some of our favorite pumpkin brews. Here are three recommended pumpkin beers for celebrating the fall, October and Halloween!

Schlafly Pumpkin Ale

Pumpkin Ale, 8% ABV

This local microbrewery goes all out with it’s seasonal pumpkin craft beer! Brewed with pumpkin and butternut squash, this craft beer is sure to be perfect for howling at that Halloween moon. Feel the full embodiment of pumpkin pie and the harvest spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove, with a slight hint of whipped cream on the back end. In addition to the pumpkin spice flavors, brown sugar and caramel dally in the middle of this medium-bodied brew. Like most Schlafly craft beers, it is easy to drink and very consistent. It’s high ABV seems nearly nonexistent under its big pumpkin taste!

Southern Tier Pumking

Imperial Pumpkin Ale, 8.6% ABV

Crowning itself king of pumpkin beer, the Southern Tier Pumking is considerably the sweetest and most akin to actually eating a pumpkin pie of our featured pumpkin craft beers. Southern Tier does a great job of developing a complex ale. Moderately carbonated with the strong smell of pumpkin spice, Pumking has a slight bitterness in the finish. The deep roasted pumpkin overtone and the taste of pumpkin pie crust proves that Southern Tier is not trying to hide their pumpkin flavor!

Charleville Witch’s Brew’mmm

Belgian-style Pumpkin Ale, 7% ABV

Perhaps the most unique of these three craft beers is the Charleville Witch’s Brew’mmm, which is brewed straight out of Sainte Genevieve, Missouri. Witch’s Brew’mmm is a Belgian-style ale brewed with pumpkin and spices. Not a traditional pumpkin pie-flavored beer, this ale highlights the pumpkin gourd instead of the spice itself and perhaps even finishes its spiciness with a very subtle hint of a tart lemon. The pumpkin flavors get stronger as the craft beer warms and the notes of cinnamon and nutmeg nicely rise from its slight carbonation.

Cheers!

This traditional Oktoberfest won’t be around for long! Consistently copper in color with gentle rays of orange, this creamy lager can be summed up in two words: caramel and malt. A strong biscuit malt of with a heavy dose of caramel sweetness dominates the palate upfront, while a hint of nuttiness lingers on the backend. Slight spices dally in the middle with a semi-dry finish. Smooth and with high drinkability, this craft beer will have you ushering in the cool weather!

Schlafly Hard Cider

Fruit Cider, 7.2% ABV

A good cider treads the line sweet versus tart. The one that walks this line as a walker on a tightrope is sure to be a winner. Find this ideal balance in local craft beer mogul Schlafly’s Hard Cider. The aroma is reminiscent of apples and white wine, while its medium to light body and gentle carbonation is more comparable to a champagne. Apple tart and crisp with a dry finish, it packs a big punch at 7.2% ABV.
